The Institute / Our approach

Attention should change
what happens next.

Bring people together. Help a useful attempt begin. Stay with the work as it changes.

Convene.

Bring people together around work and questions that cross fields. Create the conditions for serious attention, useful disagreement and connections that would be difficult to make elsewhere.

Activate.

Help a useful next attempt take shape. It might be a test, a collaborator, an introduction or a question made precise enough to pursue.

Back.

Return to what moved, what failed and what changed. Stay with the person as the work develops rather than treating one encounter as the outcome.

Begin here. Build outward.

We are starting in Ireland because leaving should not be the only credible route to finding people who understand an unconventional ambition. EGI will connect serious work here with peers, knowledge and relationships elsewhere. The aim is to expand a person's choices, not prescribe where they should live or what their work should become.

Learn from judgment.

Record what we noticed, predicted, supported and misunderstood. Early conviction becomes useful only when it can meet evidence and correction.
